The accession consists of twenty two color 35mm slides taken by Frederick Stoye in February 1945 when he was visiting La Jolla, California as a houseguest of Dr. and Mrs. Carl Leavitt Hubbs. The photographs include images of the campus of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the village of La Jolla, and group photographs including images of Carl Leavitt Hubbs, his wife Laura Clark Hubbs and graduate student Elizabeth M. Kampa. The slides include images of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography pier, the Community House, and other buildings. Photographs of La Jolla include one image of the La Valencia Hotel. The slides include several images of coastal vegetation and several photographs of the coast taken at sunset.

American ichthyologist and naturalist born Williams, Arizona October 18, 1894. Received A.B. (1916) and A.M. (1917) degrees from Stanford and Ph. D. (1927) University of Michigan.
